Son of John Henry and Edith Harriett Flint, of 11 Debdale Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Siblings: Walter John (1907), Robert Arthur (1911),Roger Elliott (1920) and Peter J (1923).
George and Robert were baptised togather on 28th April 1918 at St Peter's Church, Mansfield.
Edith died 28th March 1939.

Military history

HMS Liverpool: a light crusier. Stationed in the Mediterranean supplying Malta.
On the 14th October 1940 she was attacked by Italian torpedo bombers cusing damage to the forward section. There at been a fuel leak which was ignited by an electric short circuit which caused an explosion at 19:20 hours. The crew were preparing to abandon ship when HMS Orion came along side and towed the stricken ship back to Alexandria.
3 officers, 27 crew were killed and 35 injured. 12 where buried at sea.

Mansfield Sailor Killed.
A well knownMansfield Official Mr J H Flint, Chief Clerk and the Borough Surveyor's Office, has received official notification that his son, George Raymond Flint was killed on HMS Liverpool in the Mediterranean on October 14th. He was 22 years of age and joined the Navy 3 years ago.
After a year at Chatham he was drafted to the crusier Liverpool as a telegraphist. He was educated at High Oakham School and was i of 5 brothers. Mr J H Flint lost his wife some 18 months ago.
