He was the son of Harry and Annie Ethel Noble and the brother of John and Amy Noble of 93, Hallcroft Road, Retford.

Military history

He was shot down by an Me 109 during aerial combat over the Sussex coast near Hove flying Hurricane I P3179.

On August 30th 1940, Fighter Command lost 24 aircraft from 10 Squadrons - 32, 43, 56, 66, 74, 151, 222, 252, 603 & 616. 13 were Hurricanes and 10 Spitfires. 8 pilots were killed, 5 wounded whilst 10 were recorded as 'Safe'. Hurricane N 2540 of 32 Sqdn was destroyed on the ground during an air attack on Biggin Hill so had no pilot.
