Military history

Served in the 2nd Battalion, the Sherwood Foresters, at some point he was attached to the 2nd Battalion, North staffordshire Regiment.
Awarded th Palastine clasp to the General Service Medal (1918-1960) on the 4th April 1940 under Army Order 247 of 1939.
Reported to the War Office Casualty Section that he had died on the 11th August 1940 on Casualty List No. 283 dated 16th August 1940, although incorrectly listed as serving with the Royal Signals, this was corrected to the 2nd Battalion, theSherwood Foresters on Casualty List No. 329.

Buried : Kingsway New Cemetery, Kirkby In Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
