Family history

Son of John and Elizebeth Woodley nee Glazier. Husband of Laura Woodley nee George married 1920 of 'Miltor' Monkspool Ave, Molesey, West Molesey, Surrey. John was born in 1881 making him 59 at his death not 53 as the CWGC have him. Both of Johns parents died before he was 4, his two older half sisters Emma and Ann were old enough to earn their way in London. His younger sisters Charlotte, Jane and Caroline were sent to orphanages in Cheshire. It is unclear if the family ever managed to reunite after it was split up. John was adopted by the family's neighbours, the Eastwood's. Robert Eastwood his adopted brother was a witness at his wedding, his wife Laura was 10 years younger and the discrepancy of John date of birth is entered onto the marriage certificate and also the 1939 register. Their daughter was born in October 1921. His son also called John was born in 1933. John's trade was described as a carpenter and his wife Laura was described as incapacitated. £175 1s 5d was left to Laura his widow 23/7/1940. Probate revoked 14/8/1942. Laura died in 1960.

Died at Bowbridge House, Hospital of a Septic Venous Thrombosis caused by a Gastric Ulcer. Buried Newark Cemetery 15/02/1940.
