Robert Eric Voce was born in 1899 at Netherfield, he was the son of Edward a fireman for the Great Northern Railway and Annie Voce née Fathers of 131, Victoria Rd., Netherfield, Nottingham.
His father Edward was born in 1868 at Annesley, his mother Annie Fathers was born in 1865 at Ramsden, Oxford, they were married on 17th February 1894 at St Lukes Church, Derby, they went on to have 7 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 16 Godfrey Street, Netherfield, Edward 42 yrs is a fireman for the Great Northern Railway, he is living with his wife Annie 46 yrs and their children, Henry 16 yrs an engine cleaner, Albert 15 yrs a polisher, Fred 13 yrs an errand boy, Robert 11 yrs a scholar, Eva 9 yrs of age Rosa7 yrs of age and Charles 4 yrssold.
Private Robert Eric Voce enlisted at Derby he served with the 12th/13th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was taken a prisoner of war and he died on 31st October 1918, in Belgium he is buried in Sedan-Torcy, French National Cemetery, France
