Tom Pilkington was born in 1887 at Netherfield, he was the son of George a railway engine driver and Mary Alice Pilkington née Cobb of Netherfield Nottingham.
His father George Pilkington was born in 1862 at Isle of Haxey, his mother Mary Alice Cobb was born in 1862 at Peterborough, they were married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had a further child, William born 1885
In the 1911 census the family are living at 15 Ashwell Street, Netherfield, George Pilkington 49 yrs is a railway engine driver, he is living with his wife Mary Alice 49 yrs and their children, Tom 24 yrs a stoe keeper for a furniture manufacturer, also living at the address is Mary Upton 28 yrs a dress maker a boarder and Frederick Lee Lockwood 7 yrs a visitor.
Tom married Mary Upton born 19th August 1882 in 1914 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at of 15 Ashwell Street Netherfield.
Commencing 22nd April 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence
Gunner Tom Pilkington enlisted at Carlton whilst residing at Netherfield, he served wit the 125th Battery Royal Garrison Artillery, he was killed in actio on 27th September 1917 he is buried at Bard Cottage Cemetery
