Charles Robert Prince was born in 1891 at Basford, he was baptised (along with 4 of his siblings) on 8th April 1891 at St Augustines Church, Basford, he was the son of Samuel a lace maker and Elizabeth Prince née Morley and the brother of Benjamin, Arthur, Samuel and Fanny Prince.
His father Samuel was born in 1848 at Heanor, Derbyshire, his mother Elizabeth Morley was born in 1851 at NottinghamIn they were married in 1869 at Basford, they went on to have 16 children, sadly 7 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 46, North Gate, Basford Nottingham Samuel 63 yrs is a lace maker, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 60 yrs and their children, Benjamin 41 yrs a barrell maker, Arthur Samuel 32 yrs a labourer, Fanny 22 yrs a lace factory clipper, Charles Robert 20 yrs a carter also living with the family is his fathers sister in law Mary Morley 57 yrs.
He was the husband of Florence Rose Lakin ( a widow) whom he married on 26th October 1916 at Nottingham and the father of Charles Stanley Prince they lived at 49 Althorpe Grove, Vernon Ave, Basford.
Florence married Edward Harvey at Nottingham in 1919.
Private Charles Prince enlisted at Nottingham and served with 612 Motor Transport Company Army Service Corps, He died on 1st November 1918 at the Carrington Military Hospital Nottingham, he is buried in Nottingham Northern Cemetery, Grave Reference: C 4 J 3.
