Frank Tradewell was born in 1890 at Bolsover, Derbyshire, he was the son of George a joiner builder and the late Florence Ann Tradewell (died 1898 aged 38) née Morton and the brother of Charles, Eveline, Frederick, Agnes, George, Florence, William, HIlda and Edna Tradewell.
His father George was born in 1852 at Eckington, Derbyshire, he died in 1920 at Bolsoverhe was aged 68 yrs, his mother Florence Ann Morton was born in1859 at Eckington, she died in 1898 at Bolsover aged 38 yrs, they were married in 1877 at Nottingham they had 10 children,
In 1891 and 1901, the family lived in Tradewell's Yard, Hill Top, Bolsover.
In 1911, Frank was boarding at 61, Rosehill Cottages, Prospect Street, Radford Nottingham he is 21 yrs of age, single and is working in the cycle trade, he is boarding with Charlotte Cottam Greaves 67 yrs a w idow and boarding house keeper.
In the same 1911 his father George Tradewell 56 yrs a joiner/builder is living with two of his daughter Kathleen 17 yrs and Edna 16 yrs, they are living at Bolsover, Derbyshire.
Private Frank Tradewell enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Radford, he initially served with the service number 21006 in the Leicestershire Regiment, later transferring to the 225th Company, Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action on 1st August 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial Panel 56, Belgium.
His birth was registered J/A/S/1889 so he may have been 28 when killed.
