Walter Blore was born on 20th November 1888 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry a foreman scrounger and Mary Ann Blore née Dolphin and the brother of Ada, Gertude, Flora, Margaret, Emily and Albert Blore they lived at 81, Sneinton Road, Nottingham.
His father Henry was born in 1857 at Nottingham, he died in 1910 aged 53 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Dolphin was born in 1857 at Mansfield they were married in 1876 at Mottingham, they had 12 children 3 of whom died in infancy or early childhhod.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 34 Notinton Place, Nottingham, Mary Ann Blore 55 yrs is a widow she is living with her children, Margaret 24 yrs a lace measurer, Emily 20 yrs a lace jennier, Albert 17 yrs a printing compositor and Douglas 7 yrs of age.
Prior to the outbreak of the 'Great War' Walter emigrated to Canada.
Private Walter Blore enlisted at Toronto, Canada, on 12th May 1915 he served with the 3rd battalion Canadian Infantry, he arrived in France on 22nd December 1915. He was killed in action on 13th June 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate: Panel 18-24-26-30

'BLORE. – In loving memory of Private Walter Blore, Canadians, killed in action in France [sic], June 13th, 1916, aged 28 years. A noble life laid down.'– Mother and family.
