Arthur Lawrence Wright was born on 12th March 1891 at Nottingham, he was the son of Joseph Pretty a chemist and druggist and Ada Wright née Skinner and the brother of Grace E Wright.
His father Joseph Pretty Wright was born in 1862 at Barton, Staffordshire, his mother Ada Ellen Skinner was born in 1867 at Glanford Brigg, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1887 at Nottingham, they had 2 children.
In 1891, they lived at 246, Denman Street, Radford, Nottingham.
The family emigrated to Canada, when Arthur was a year old, they lived at 3035,Yukon Street, Vancouver, British Columbia.
Driver Arthur Lawrence Wrght enlisted on 29th January 1916,at Vancouver, Canada giving his date of birth as 12th March 1891, he was a sheet metal worker, he was 24 yrs and 10 months old, his next of kin was his mother Ada Wright he served with 1st Division Ammunition Column Canadain Field Artillery. He arrived in England on 13th March 1916 and landed in France on 25th May 1916, he was killed in action on 13th June 1916 he is buried at Bedford House Cemetery, Grave Reference: 4 II B 27.
