Family history

Thomas Henry Pritchard (junior) was born in 1880 at Stanstey, Wrexham, he was the son of Thomas Henry Pritchard (senior) a coal miner hewer and Mary Ann Pritchard née Evison.

His father Thomas Henry was born in 1851 at Selattyn, Shropshire, he died in 1911 he was 60 yrs of age, his mother Mary Ann Evison was born in 1848 at Whittington Shropshire, they were married on 21st November 1872 at Oswestry, Shropshire, they went on to have 7 children.

Thomas Henry Pritchard (junior) was the husband of Jane Williams (born 17th February 1878 ) they were married on 16th February 1903 at Wrexham, Denbeishire, they had the following children, Thomas Henry born 7th March 1905, Maggie brn 1st November 1906, Albert born 1st November 1908, Florence born born 1910, William born 27th January 1912 and John Pritchard

In the 1911 census the family lived at 128 Stanton Hill Skegby Nottingamshire Thomas Henry Pritchard 31 yrs is a coal miner hewer he is living with his wife Jane 30 yrs and their children, Thomas Henry 6 yrs, Maggie 4 yrs, Albert 2 yrs of age and Florence 6 months old.

Commencing 3rd January 1916 his widow was awarded a penstion of 27 shillings a week.

Military history

Acting Corporal Thomas Henry Pritchard enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield, he initially served with the service number 1381 in the Leicestershire Regiment, he was serving with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment , when he was killed in action on 16th June 1915. having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium
