John Davey was born in 1883 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late James Davey a frame work knitter and Mary Davey née Hall and the brother of Mary, Lily, Alfred, James, Arthur, Fred and Harold Davey.
His father James was born in 1858 at Nottingham, he died in 1900 aged 45 yrs, his mother Mary Jane Hall was born in 1858 at Nottingham, they were married in 1875 at Nottingham, they had 9 children,
In 1901, they lived at 5, Angel Row, Nottingham.
John was the husband of Agnes Rose Romaine born 12th September 1890 they were married in 1906 at Nottingham.
Commencing 1st May 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 10 shillings and 6 pence a week, at this date she was living at 43 Granfield Street, Battersea, London
Corporal John Davey enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 3rd battalion Grendadier Guards he was killed in action on 27th September 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial,
