Family history

He was the son of William and Mary Ann Tew and the brother of Gertrude, Eliza and Dulcie Tew. In 1901, they lived at 32, Healey Street, Kirkwhite Street, Meadows, Nottingham. He was the husband of Millicent Tew and the father of Stephen Edward and Aileen Tew. In 1911, they lived at 11, Little Hallam, Ilkeston.

Military history

Sergeant John Edward Tew enlisted at Ilkeston, h initially served with the service number 1409 in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment) later transferring to the 5th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he landed in France on 3rd March 1915 and died of owounds on 28th September 1917, he is buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery Grave Reference: VI H 13
