Frank Roddis

Frank Roddis was born on 2nd June 1886 at Long Eaton, he was the son of the late Walter Roddis a lace maker and his first wife Mary Ann Roddis née Maslin and the brother of Ida Emily, Doris, Vernon Walter and Clarence Leslie Roddis.

His father Walter was born in 1860 at Pertin Hale, Bedfordshire,he died in 1917 at Cossall he was 57 yrs old, his mother Mary Ann Maslin was born in 1865 at Sawley she died in 1904, she was 39 yrs old, they were married on 28th Septeber 1884 at Long Eaton they had 6 children

His father went on to marry his second wife Lizza Ann Pilkington born in 1870 at Ilkeston, they were married on 23rd May 1906 at St Marys Church at Ilkston,

In the 1911 census the family lived at Cossall, Nottinghamshire, Walter 51 yrs is a lace maker he is living with his wife Lizzie Ann Roddis 41 yrs and his children, Frank 24 yrs a card puncher, Ida Emily 18 yrs a hosiery worker, Doris 12 yrs, Vernon Walter 10 yrs and Clarence Leslie 1 year old.

Frank Roddis married Edith May Hamson (born 17th September 1892) they were married on 31st August 1912 at St Marys Church, Ilkeston, they had one child Olive Mary born 11th September 1916.

Commencing 22nd April 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 21 shillings and 3 pence a week.
