William Westmoreland was born in 1881 at Nottinmgham, he was the son of Sarah Westmoreland born 1863 at Nottingham she died in 1896 at Nottingham aged 33 yrs.

In 1901, he was boarding at 71 Newington Street, Nottingham he is 19 yrs he is a town labourer, he is living with George Blasdale 47 yrs a town labourer, and his family.

He married Laura Dickerson at South Shields on 19th September 1914, they lived at 5 Hengh Street, South Shields.

Military history

Lance Corporal William Westmoreland enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion York and Lancaster Regiment he was killed in action on 8th May 1915 having no known grave hsi name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Panels 35 & 55 Belgium.
