Thomas Robinson was born on 2nd December 1888 at Huthwaite, he was baptised on 6th January 1889 at All Saints Church, Huthwaite, he was the son of Samuel a coal miner and Elizabeth Robinson née Harrison of Huthwaite.
He was the husband of Lucy Robinson née Gray (born 28th December 1886) of South Normanton, Alfreton, Derbyshire. they were married in 1909 their marriage was recorded in the Mansfield registration district,
In the 1911 census the family are living at 488 B Winnings, South Normation Thomas 22 yrs is a colliery banksman, he is living with his wife Lucy 24 yrs and their daughter Elizabeth 1 year old.
The family lived at 488 B Winnings, South Normaton, they went on to have 3 children, Elizabeth Maria born 12th September 1909, Emily born 15th October 1915 and Doris Alice born 1st September 1917.
Commencing 20th May 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 29 shillings and 7 pence a week.
Private Thomas Robinson enlisted at Mansfield on 14th November 1914, he served with the 15t battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 23rd October 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial. Panel 99- 102 and 162 -162A.
Bernard Wall, Robinson's grandson writes 'When he voluntarily enlisted he left behind a wife and three daughters six years of age and under , my grandmother never remarried. I feel very proud.'
