Cyril Horace Wagg was born in 1894 at Hucknall the son of Frederick a hotel manager and Hannah Wagg (née Huish).

His father was born in 1861 at Hucknall, his mother in 1863 at Nottingham. Married in 1883, they had seven children - Wilfred b.1884, George Frederick b.1887 (killed in action 1/7/1917), Hannah b.1889, Cyril Horace b.1894, Selina b.1898 (died 1908 aged 10) John b.1899 and Harold b.1904.

In 1911, the family, including Hannah’s 77 year old mother, was living at 345, St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham. Frederick 50 yrs is a hotel manager he is living with his wife Hannah 48 yrs and their 5 children including Cyril Horace 17 yrs single no occupation listed.

Military history

Private Cyril Horac Wagg enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 8th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 16th August 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
