Family history

Enoch Esli was born on 10th December 1898 at Bulwell, he was the son of Koz Daniel and Blanche Tomlinson née Oldman and the brother of Annie Alice, George Ivor, Daniel Andrew and Esther Eunice Tomlinson of 461 Ossington Avenue, Toronto.

His father Koz Dan was born in 1870, his mother Blanche Oldham was born in 1870 she died in 1919 at Rosemount, Ontario, Canada, she was 49 years old, both were born in Woolwich, they were married on 11th May 1889 at Emmanuel Church, Bestwood Park, Nottingham.

In the 1911 cemsus the family lived at 46 James Street, Arnold Koz Dan 41 yrs is a cal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Blanche 41 yrs and their children, Annie Alice 19 yrs a laundry ironer, George Ivor 18 yrs an upholsterer, Daniel Andrew 15 yrs a van lad, Enoch Esli 12 years a scholar, Esther Eunice 9 yrs and Amy Dorothy 4 years of age.

Military history

Private Enoch Esli Tomlinson enlisted on 3rd May 1916 at Shelburne, Ontario, Canada, giving his age as 18 yrs and his occpation as that of a farmer. he served with 164th Canadian Expeditionary Force later transferred to 5th Bn. Saskatchewan Regiment. He was killed in action on 1st September 1918, he is buried at Upton Wood British Cemetery near Arras Grave Reference: F3
