Robert Clark Burgess was born in 1890 at Kimberley he was the son of the late William Burgess a house painter and Emily Burgess née Clark

His father William was born in 1847 at Birmingham, he died in 1911 aged 64 yrs, his mother Emily Clark was born in 1847 at Atherstone, Warwickshire, they were married on 28th January 1877 at St Asaph, Birmingham, they had 8 children.

Robert Clark Burgess married Elsie Kemp (born 4th October 1890 ) in 1911 at Nottingham

They lived at 36 Middle Furlong Road, Nottingham, they had a daughter Marjorie Elsie born 13th September 1911 .

They lived at 128 Alfred Street South St Ann's Nottingham, his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shilings a week commencing 1st May 1916 .

Elsie married William Farrar in 1919 and they lived at 32 Milton Street Doncaster.

Military history

Lance Corporal Robert Clark Burgess enilsted at Nottingham, he served with the 9th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. he went to Gallipoli on 28th August 1915 and was killed in action, 4th October 1915, age 25.
