George Herbert Boot Miller was born in 1887 at Sutton in Ashfield, he was the son of the late George Miller a frame work knitter and Sarah Miller née Boot and the brother of Samuel, Mary and William Miller.
His father George was born in 1850 at Sutton in Ashfield he died in 1887 at Sutton in Asfield he was 37 yrs of age, his mother Sarah Boot was born in 1849 at Sutton in Ashfield, she died in 1922 she was 73 yrs of age. they were married in 1870 at St Marys Church, Suton in Ashfiled, they went on to have 7 children,
In the 1911 census the family lived on Huthwaite Road, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.
Sarah Miller 62 yrs a widow is living with her children, her married son Samuel 29 yrs a colliery banksman, and his wife Mary 28 yrs (daughter in law) her son George Herbert 28 yrs a bricklayer, William 24 yra a boot repairer and her grand daughter Winifred Oliver 7 months old.
Sapper George Herbert Boot Miller enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 404th Field Coympany Royal Engineers, he initially served with the service number 183460 & T2460 he was killed in action on 12th April 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegstreet Memorial, Panel 1
