Private Bernard Bert Topham enlisted on 4th June 1915 at Niagra Camp, Ontario, Canada using the name Bert Richardson, giving his date of birth as as 21st December 1893, he gave his next of kin as his sister Mrs Gorman of Merricksville, Ontario, he was 22 yrs of age and was a labourer. He was posted to the 21st Bn, Canadian Infantry. He landed in England on 26th August 1915, he landed in France on 3rd February 1916. He was reported missing in action and later confrmed killed in action on 15th September 1916, he has no known grave his name is commemrated on the Vimmy Memorial, France.
