John Perry was born in 1898 he was baptised on 8th March 1899 at St Thomas Church, Nottingham, he was the son of the late John Wright Perry a porter and Elizabeth Perry of 12 Lewis Place, Rancliffe Street, Sussex Street, Nottingham, his father John Wright Perry although names on his sons baptised record has his name crossed through.

His mother was born in 1857 at Nottingham and was a widow before 1901 Census when she was living with her children at 26 Exchange Street, Mount Street, Nottingham. She has the following children all of whom were born in Nottingham, Emma b.1884, Mary Ann b.1886, William b.1888, Joseph b.1890, Richard b.1894 and John b.1898.

In the 1911 census Elizabeth Perry, a charwoman a 54 yrs head of the family and married , lived at 12 Lewis Street, Rancliffe Street, Nottingham, with her sons Richard 17 yrs a basket maker, and John 13 yrs a scholar.

Military history

John Perry enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 13th battalion Northumberland Fusliers landed in France on 9th September 1915 and died of wounds on 18th June 1917. He is buried in Achiet-Le-Grande Communal Cemetery extension, France grave Reference I.M.1
