Bartholomew Good was born on 30th July 1896 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 18th August 1896 at St Ann's, Nottingham. he was the son of Joseph Bartholomew Good a sinker maker and his wife Ann Good (née Jones)
His father was born in 1868 in Nottingham and died 2/5/1915 aged 53 his mother was born in 1870 also at Nottingham they were married c.1891, they had the following children all born at Nottingham, Beatrice Alice b.1892, Joseph b.1894 (killed in action 27/6/1916), Bartholomew b.1896, Edward b.1899 and Thomas b.1901.
In the 1911 census the family was living at 20 Frederick Terrace, Livingstone Street, St Ann’s. Ann, Beatrice Alice and Joseph worked in the lace industry and Bartholomew was an errand boy.
After her husband’s death, Ann Good lived at 4 West Street, Ilkeston.
Bartholomew Good enlisted on 14th August 1914 at Derby giving his age as 18 years and 2 months. He landed in France on 1st March 1915. He is buried in Lindenhoek Chalet Military Cemetery Grave Reference: I.C.16
His brother Joseph Good enlisted at Ilkeston. He is buried in Warlincourt Halte British Cemetery, Saulty Grave Reference: VI.F.15.
