Albert Wright was born on 2nd September 1893 at Codnor, he was the son of John Caulton and a coal miner fireman and Esther Wright née Buckley of 18 Frances Street New Brinsley Nottinghamshire.
His father John Caulton was born in 1855 at Codnor, his mother Esther Buckley was born in 1859 at Baford, she died in 1909 at Basford she was 50 yrs of age, they were married in 1879 at Basford, they went on to have 7 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 18 Frances Street, New Basford, John Caulton 56 yrs a widow and coal miner fireman is living with his children, Frederick 22 yrs a collier labourer, Albert 21 yrs a collier labourer and Elizabeth Sarah Ann 19 yrs of age no occupation listed.
AT some time Albert emigrated to Canada.
Private Alber Wright enlisted on 22nd August 1915 at Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada, giving hs date of birth as 2nd September 1893, he was 22yrs of age he was a motor engineer, his next of kin was his father J.C. wright of Frances Street, New Brinsley, Nottinghamshire He was posted to the Royal Canadian Regiment and landed in Boulogne, France on 1st November 1915. He was killed in action on 16th September 1916, having no known gravehis name is commemorated on the Vimy Ridge, Memorial.
