George Watson was born on 3rd September 1895 at Radford, Nottingham, he was the son of William a dyer and Sarah Ann Watson née Holmes and the brother of Alice M Watson.
His father William Watson was born in 1866 at Nottingham , his mother Sarah Ann Holmes was born in 1867 at Mansfield, they were married in 1888 at Nottingham, they had 2 children.
In 1911 they lived at 165 Denman Street Radford Nottingham Wiilam Watson 45 yrs a dyer is living with his wife Sarah Ann 44 yrs and their 2 children, George 22 yrs a bar straightener for lace machine builder and Alice 9 yrs of age.
The family emigrated to Canada before 1915.
Private George Watson enlisted on 3rd August 1915 at Camp Hughes Manitoba giving his address as Birds Hill, Manitoba, he was 19 yrs and 11 months old, he was a farmer/chauffeur his next of kin was his mother Mrs William Watson of the same address , he was posted to the Royal Canadian Dragoons and was reported missing in action on 23rd March 1918 later presumed killed in action, he is buried at Verberie French National Cemetery, France.
