Fred Sharpe was born in 1891 at Bole, e was the son of the late Robert Sharpe a horseman on a farm and Jane Sharpe née Dolman of North Leverton, Nottinghamshire.
His father Robert was born in 1857 at Eagle Moor, Lincolnshire, he died in 1905 he was 48 years of age, his mother Jane Dolman was born in 1863 at Farndon, they were married in 1883 in the Lincoln registration district, they went on to have 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.
On the 1891 census the family was living at West Brocks Cottage South Leverton.
In the 1911 census his widowed mother and siblings were living at North Leverton, Jane 48 yrs is a widow she is living with her children, Elsie Annie 12 yrs, Rosie Dorothy 10 yrs and Thomas Herbert 7 yrs old.
At some point Frederick emigrated to Canada.
Private Frederick Sharpe enlisted and served with the 78th battalion Canadian Infantry, he died in England of wounds received in action in France, on 9th January 1917, he is buried at St Martin Churchyard, North Leverton, Nottinghamshire.
