Samuel Pearson was born on 11th October 1882 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 7th December 1882 at Lenton Priory Church, he was the son of the late Willam and Maria Pearson née Ashton of Canal Wharf Lenton Nottingham.
His father William was born in 1855 at Radford, he died in 1912 at Lenton aged 57 yrs, his mother Maria Ashton was born in 1854 at Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, they were married on 17th October 1876 at Wollaton, Nottingham, they had 8 children.
Samuel married his wife Hilda Flower in 1904 at Nottingham,
Samuel and his wife Hilda emigrated to Canada , he lived at 185 Waverley Road, Toronto,
In the 1911 census his parents are living at Canal Wharf, Old Lenton, Nottingham, William 55 yrs No occupation listed is living with his wife Maria 57 yrs and their children John Aston Pearson 23 yrs a telephone worker, Thomas Aston Pearson 21 yrs a telephome worker, and Mary Ellen Pearson 18 yrs working at home.
Private Samuel Pearson enlisted on 4th March 1916 at Toronto, Canada, he was 33 yrs and 4 months he lived a 185 Waverley Road, Toronto, he was married to Hilda of the same address. he stated he was a shipper. He was posted to the 4th battalion Canadian Infanty, He left Halifax, Canada on the SS Olympic on 14th November 1916 he arrived in England on 20th November 1916, He arrived in France on 25th April 1917, joining his unit in the field on 16th May 1917.
He was killed in action on 20th October 1918, he is buried at Hanson Churchyard, France
