Arthur Maltby was born on 26th December 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of Arthur William a hosier and Elizabeth Annie Maltby née Holmes and the brother of Mabel, Cicely, Edith, Thomas and Joseph Maltby.

His father Arthur William was born in 1871 at Nottingham, his mother Elizabeth Annie Holmes was bornin 1873 at Nottingham, they were married on7th October 1888 at St Ann's Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 8 children.

In 1901 they lived at 2 King's Place Newington Street Manvers Street Sneinton Nottingham. Arthur and Elizabeth later lived at 256 Huron Street Stratford Ontario Canada.

Arthur and his family moved to Stratford, Ontario, Canada they lived at 48 Britannia Street, Sratford, Ontario.

Military history

Private Arthur Maltby enlisted on 9th September 1915 at Stratford, Ontario, Canada giving his date of birth as 26th December 1895 at Nottingham, he was 20 yrs and 9 months old, he was a farmer, his next of kin was his father Arthur of 48 Britannia Street, Stratford, Ontario.. he was posted to the 14th attalion Canadain Infantry, he died on 27th April 1918 at Warden House Hospital and is buried at Hamilton Road Cemetery, Deal, Kent.
