Family history

Samuel Ernest Lowe was born on 3rd September 1896 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Thomas an engine fitters labourer and the late Emma Louisa Lowe née Andrews of 6 Lotus Terrace, Lotus Street, St Anns, Nottingham

His father Thomas was born in 1869 at Nottingham, he died in 1918 aged 49 yrs, his mother Emma Louisa Andrews was born in 1873 at Maborough, Lincolnshire she died in 1905 aged 33 yrs, , they were married on 30th Janaury 1897 at St Ann's Nottingham, they had two further children, Harry born 1897 and John Phillip born 1903.

In 1901 census the family lived at 6 Lotus Terrace Lotus Street St Ann's Nottingham.

Military history

Private Samuel Ernest Lowe enlisted at Montreal, Canada on 14th February 1916, giving his address as Missiquoi, Canada, he was a farm labourer, his next of kin was his aunt Elizabeth Poyser of Harcourt Villas, Porchester Road, Mapperley, Nottingham. He was posted to the 24th battalion Canadian Infantry. He was killied in action on 6th November 1917 and is buried in Passchendaele New British Cemetery, Belgium Grave Reference: XI B 14
