Arthur Reginald Lewis was born on 4th April 1886 at Salford, Lancashire he was baptised on 9th June 1886 at Salford, Lancashire.he was the son of William Samuel Lewis a clothiers assistant and his first wife the late Marian Wixen of 19 Ryeland Crescent The Meadows Nottingham.

His father William Samuel was born in 1850 at Newcastle, Cardiganshire, married his mother Marian Wixen born in 1846, on 21st December 1872 at Salford, Lancashire she died in 1897 in Salford, aged 49 yrs.

His father remarried in 1898 at Nottingham to Elizabeth Jackson Goldsmith born 1866

His siblings were Augustus Charles born 1892, Winifred Goldsmith born 1900 and Doris born 1901.

At some date prior to the outbreak of the 'Great War' Arthur emigrated to Canada.

Military history

Lance Corporal Arthur Reginald Lewis enlisted at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada he served with the 5th battalion Canadian Infantry he was killed in action on 5th June 1915 he is buried at Wimereux Communal Cemetery, France.
