Family history

Thomas Harold Kimpton was born in 1898 at Cambridge, he was the son of the late Jonathan and Mary Ann Kimpton née Gregory and the brother of Johnathon and Bertie Kimpton of Netherfield Nottingham.

His father Jonathan was born in 1834 at Cambridge he died in 1902 aged 48 yrs, his mother Mary Ann Gregory was born in 1857 at London, they were married in 1877 at Windsor.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 110 Curzon Street Netherfield Nottingham his widowed mother Mary Ann Kimpton was 54 yrs she is living with her children, Jonathan 19 yrs an engine cleaner, Thomas 13 yrs a jacquer off factory hand and Bertie 15 yrs a farm labourer.

Thomas emigrated to Australia prior to the outbreak of the 'Great War'

Military history

Gunner Thomas Harold Kimpton enlisted in Australia on 21st August 1915, he served with the 43rd Bty 11th Bde Australian Field Artillery, he was killed in action 24th October 1917 and is buried at Menin Road SDouth Military Cemetery.

Nottingham Evening Post Roll of Honour 29/11/1917:

'Kimpton. Killed in action October 24th, Gunner T H Kimpton, Australian Imperial Forces, late of Netherfield.'

His birth was registered O/N/D/1897 so may have been 20 when killed. David Nunn
