Thomas Stones (junior) was born in 1883 at Nottingham he was baptised on 4th November 1885 at St Marks Church, Nottingham, was the son of the late Thomas Stones (senior) a brick layers labourer and the late Matilda Stones née Dalley and the brother of Harold, Ethel, Claud (killed in action 21/3/1918), Harry and Florence Stones.
His father Thomas was born in 1853 at Nottingham, he died in 1918 aged aged 66 yrs his mother Matilda Dalley was born in 1854 at Nottingham, she died in 1913 aged 59 yrs, they were married on 2nd June 1879 at St Marks Church, Nottingham , they had 12 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood, he was the brother of Claud (killed in action 21/03/1918), Harold, Ethel, Harry and Florence Stones.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 18 Clare Street Lower Parliament Street Nottingham Thomas 58 yrs is a brick layers labourer, he is living with his wife Matilda 57 yrs and their 6 children
Thomas (junior) was maried to Annie Hickman (born 17th January 1879) on 4th August 1913 at St Marks Church, Nottingham they lived at 22 Clare Street, Parliament Street, Nottingham.
Commencing 24th April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week at this date his widow was living at 11 Clare Street, Nottingham.
Private Thomas Stones enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 19th September 1918 he is buried at Trefcon British Cemetery Caulaincourt
