Stanley Jessie Carr was born on 31st December 1893 and baptised on 27th May 1894 at Bristol.he was the son of the late Walter a tramway driver and Elizabeth Carr née Ballam of 1 Chesson Road, West Kensington, London.

His father Walter was born in Frome,Somerset,he died on 25t February 1914 at Fulham Infirmary, Fulham he was aged 62 yrs his mother Elizabeth Ballam was born in 1864 at Stocl;and, Bristol, they were married on 25th June 1893 at St Andrews Church, Fulham, they went on to have 5 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Chesson Road, West Kensington Elizabeth Carr married and a domestic is 47 yrs old, she is living with her children, Stanley Jesse 17 yrs a greengrocers assistant, Daisy Emiy May 15 yrs a domestic and Lawrence George Ballas 10 yrs a scholar.

Military history

CARR, STANLEY JESSE, Private, No. 1285, 13th Battalion (Princess Louise's Kensington) The London Regiment (T.F.), son of the late Walter Carr, L.C.C Tramway Driver, by his wife, Elizabeth (1, Chesson Road, West Kensington), daughter of the late George Ballam; b. Iron Acton, co. Gloucester, 31 Dec. 1893; educated North End Road Council School, Fulham; joined the Kensingtons in April, 1912, and on the outbreak of war volunteered for foreign service with his Regiment, and was killed in action while trench digging at Laventie, France, 4 March, 1915; unmarried. Buried on a farm on the La Bassée road, about a mile and a half from Neuve Chapelle.

He enlisted on 30th April 1912 giving his age as 18 yrs and 4 months, he was a builders labourer, his address was 1 Chesson Road, West Kensington, next of kin was his father Walter Carr 1 Chesson Road, West Kensington he was posted to the 1/13th battalion Kensington, Battalion, he landed in France on 9th January 1915.
