He was the husband of Prudence Alice Dye (born 16th March 1885) whom he married at the Nottingham Registry Office on 6th August 1906, they lived at 93 Beverley Street,St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham, they had the following children, Louise Maud born 18th May 1907, Winifred May born 3rd November 1908,Ivy Dorothy born 19th June 1911, Alfred George born 18th Septembr 1912 and Dulcie Lillian born 3rd June 1915

In the 1911 census the family lived at 1 Crossley Street Sherwood, Nottingham, Alfred George 28 yrs is a boot and shoe repairer he is living with his wife Prudence Alice 25 yrs and their children Louise 3 yrs and Winifred May 4 yrs of age.

Commencing 19th May 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 37 shillings and 11 pence a week.

Military history

Sapper Alfred George Allen enlisted on 6th January 1915 at Nottingham, giving his age as 32 yrs and 5 months, he was living at 93 Beverley Street, St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham he was a shoemaker and his next of kin was his wife Prudence of the same address. He served with 95th Field Company Royal Engineers and landed in France on 10th Sptember 1915. He was wounded in action on 6th September 1916 a gun shot wound to his leg and was returned to England on 14th September 1916.

He returned to France on 21st March 1917 and died of influenza on 3rd November 1918 and is buried at Staglieno Cemetery Genoa
