Charles Robinson was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Samuel David a machine fitter and Sarah Jane Robinson née Smith and the brother of Ernest, Albert and Alice Robinson of 44 West Street, Sneinton.
His father Samuel was born in 1859 at Nottingham, his mother Sarah Jane Smith was born in 1858 at Nottingham, they were married on 3rd October 1877 at St Pauls Church, Nottingham. they went on to have 10 children sadly 5 were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 3 Palace Place, Walker Street, Sneinton, Samuel 52 yrs is a fitter, he is living with his wfie Sarah 53 yrs and their children, Ernest 20 yrs a house boiler, Albert 17 yrs a shop assistant, Alice 15 yrs an errand girl and Charles 13 yrs a scholar.
Private Charles Robinson enlisted at Nottingham he served with 'D' Coy 12/13th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers he died on28th March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, France
