Family history

Leonard Lowe was born in 1890 at Nottingham, he was the son of Thomas Lowe a slater in the building trade and Emma Matilda Lowe née Harrison of at 59 Union Road, Nottingham.

His father Thomas was born in 1850, his mother was born in 1849 both were born in Nottingham, they were married on 12th January 1874 at All Saints Church, Nottingham, they had 6 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 59 Union Road, Nottingham, Thomas 61 yrs is a slater, he is living with his wife Emma Matilda 62 years and their son Leonard Lowe 21 yrs a slater.

Leonard Lowe married Florence Tarr (born 19th March 1893) they were married in 1912 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district, they lived at 1 Woodland Street, Beaumont Street, Nottingham they had a son William Henry born 19th January 1915.

Commencing 5th February 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week.

His widow remarried on 7th April 1917 to Frank Miles.

Military history

Driver Leonard Lowe enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 107th Bty 23rd Bde, Royal Field Artillery, he died of wounds on 8th July 1916, he is buried at Carnoy Military Cemetery, France.
