Family history

Thomas Poole was born James Thomas Poole in 1872 at Radford, he was the son of the late James (1842-1880) and the late Phoebe Taylor (1852-1914)

James Thomas married Mary Ann Taylor (born 6th September 1880) on 24th December 1898 at Christ Church, Radford, Old Basford, they went on to have 4 children, Phoebe born 1900, Joseph born 15th July 1903, Thomas born 7th September 1908 and Ada born 16th January 1911, the family lived at 29 Wilton Terrace, Wallis Street, Old Basford.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 9 Bromfield Place, Park Lace, Old Basford, James Thomas 39 yrs is a general labourer, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 31 yrs a lace hand and their children, Phoebe 11 yrs, Joseph 7 yrs, Thomas 2 yrs and Ada 3 months old.

Military history

Sergeant Thomas Poole enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 8th battalion King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, he died on 11th February 1916 of a ruptured aorta, he is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
