Robert Edgar Webster was born on 17th March 1893 at Camarthen, Wales he was baptised on 8th May 1893 at St David's Church, Camarthen. he was the son of John a storekeeper and the late Elizabeth Ann Webster née Roberts of Goodhead Street, Wilford Road Meadows Nottingham.
His father John Webster was born in 1860 at Norton, Durham, his mother Elizabeth Ann was born in 1861 at Middlesborough, she died prior to the 1911 census, they were married on 6th May 1879 at St John's Church, Middlesborough they went on to have 5 children.
In the 1911 census his widowed father is living at living quarters in H.M. Prison, Durham. he is shown as being 51 yrs a store keeper, he is living with his two daughters Annie Elizabeth 20 yrs no occupation listed and Jessica Rachel 13 yrs a scholar.
His parents later lived at 49, Clarence Road, Newport, Isle of Wight.
Private Robert Edgar Webster enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwoood Foresters Regiment, he landed in France on 3rd May 1915 and he was killed in action on 9th August 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, France.
