William Edward Humphryes was born in 1879 at Mansfielkd.
He was the husband of Madeline O'Grady born 21st May 1879 at Willenhall, Staffordshire, they were married in 1902 at Nottingham, they had a son Cyril born 23rd February 1913, they lived at 63 Bannerman Road, Bulwell,
In the 1911 census they are living at 32 Bannerman Road, Bulwell, William 29 yrs is a locomotive Driver, he is living with his wife Madeline 32 yrs.
Commencing 15th July 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.
Sapper William Edward Humphreys enlisted at Nottingham, whilst residing at Bulweel he served with the 96th Light Railway Operating Company, Royal Engineers, he died by drowning on 30th December 1917, he is commemorated on the Alexandria (Hadra) war memorial cemetery, Egypt.
