Samuel Harry Talor was born in 1888 at Beeston, Nottingham, he was the son of Henry Windle Taylr a boot repairer and the late Alice Taylor née Morton of Beeston.
His father Henry Windle was born in 1866 at Skegby, Nottinghamshire, his mother Alice Morton was born in 1869 at Nottingham, she died in 1907 aged 36 yrs, they were maried in 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Basord registration district, they went on to have 5 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census his widowed father was living at 17 Brand Street, Meadow Lane, Nottingham, he is 45 yrs of age and is a boot repairer, he is living with two of his children, Helena Lois 20 yrs a plain net mender and Ernest 17 yrs a bookstall clerk.
In the same 1911 census we find tah Samel Henry has joined the Army he is in barracks in Malta with his regiment 2nd battalion Somerset Light Infantry he is 23 yrs and a private.
Private Samuel Harry Taylor enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 10490 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment, laer transferring to the Somerset Light Infantry he died on 24th October 1918 in India, he is commmorated on the Delhi Memorial India Gate, India.
