Family history

Albert Edgar Hudson was born on 4th November 1886 at Cossall,Nottinghamshire, he was baptised on 20th February 1887 at Ilkeston parish church, he was the son of Edwin a railway station master and Susan Hudson née Walters of Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

His father Edwin was born in 1849 at Belper his mother Suan Walters was born in 1853 at Horsley, Derbyshire, they were married on 5th April 1877 at Horsley parish church, they went on to have 7 children,

In the 1911 census the family are living at 47 Heanor Road, Ilkeston Edwin 62 yrs is a railway station master, he is living with his wife Susan 57 yrs and their children, Edwin Reginald 26 yrs an electrical manager , Albert Edgar 24 yrs a surveyor and architect, Winifred Walters 28 yrs a gpo teleponist and Olive Eugine 22 yrs a gpo telephonist,

He was the husband of Florence Rose Whitehead (born 27th June 1889) they were married in 1914 at Nottingham, they lived at 22 Edward Road West Bridgford, Nottingham they had a son Albert Raymond born 5th September 1915.

Commencing 2nd June 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military history

Gunner Albert Edgar Hudson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 504th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery, he died of pneumonia on 30th October 1918, at the 41st casualty clearing station, he is buried at Roisel Communal Cemetry Extension, France.
