Frederick Wheat was born on 7th March 1876 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 2nd February 1885 at St Ann's Nottingham,. he was the son of John a lace mender and Lucy Wheat née Matthewson who lived at 4 Stewart Place Alfred Street Nottingham

His father John was born in 1839 at Sneinton, he died on 11th December 1916 at Nottingham, he was 77 yrs of age, his mother Lucy Matthewson was born in 1841 at Sneinton, they were married in 1864 at Radford, they went on to have 6 children.

Frederick Wheat married Elizabeth Ann Attfield (born 11th November 1860) they were married in 1906 at Croydon Surrey, in the 1911 census they lived at 59 Albert Road, South Norwood Surrey Frederick Wheat is 35 yrs he is a machinist inspector, he is living with his wife Elizabeth Ann 46 yrs a teacher and his mother in law Louisa Attfield 77 yrs a widow also at the address is his siter in law Kate Louisa Attfield 48 yrs whi is a house keper.

Military history

Staff Sergeant Frederick Wheat enlisted at Kingston on Thames he served with the Army Ordnance Corps, he was attached 9th Sqadron, Machine Gun Corps he was killed in action on 8th October 1918, he is buried at Prospect-hill-cemetery Gouy, France
