Harold Easom was the son of Frank Arthur and Catherine Annie Easom (née Haddon).
His father Frank was born in 1870 at Lincoln and his mother Catherine was born in 1871 at Nottingham. They were married in 1892 (JFM Nottingham) and had four children, one of whom died in infancy: Harold b. 1892 (OND), Frederick Charles b. 1897 d. 1897, Dorothy May b. June 1898 and Arthur Edward b. August 1905.
Frank, a book keeper (lace manufacturer), his wife and their two surviving children, Harold (8) and Dorothy (2) were living at 40 Cope Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham, in 1901. The third son, Arthur, was born four years later.
By 1911 the family was living at 21 Exeter Road, Nottingham: Frank, a cashier (lace manufacturer), Annie and their three children, Harold a clerk at a hosiery factory, Dorothy who was school age, and Arthur.
Frank and Annie were living at 38 Wiverton Road, Sherwood Rise, when Harold died in 1918.
Annie died on 1 March 1931 aged 60 and Frank on 31 March 1943 aged 73. Frank has not yet been traced on the 1939 England & Wales Register but the probate record gave his address as 38 Wiverton Road.
Their only daughter, Dorothy, married James Joseph Allen (b. 1897) in 1923; there were probably no children of the marriage. In 1939 when the England & Wales Register was compiled they were living on Nottingham Road, Chaddesden, Derby; James was employed by a chemical cellulose acitate manufacturer. James died in 1953, the probate record gave his address as Nottingham Road, Chaddesden. Dorothy probably died in 1972 (reg. Nottingham).
Arthur Edward married Joan Phyllis Moss in 1939 (reg. AMJ). Arthur, a cinema operator, and his wife were recorded on the Register at Greendale Road, Nottingham; the record of one other member of the household remains closed. Arthur died in 1998.
Lance Corporal Harold Easom enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regt).
He died on 1 October 1918 from wounds received in action and is buried in Brie British Cemetery, France (grave ref. III.E.9).
The history of the Cemetery suggests that Harold's grave was brought in after the Armistice from either the battlefields east and south of Brie or from one of two cemeteries (see CWGC link for further information).
