Family history

William Reddish was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of Charles a gas service layer and Eliza Reddish née Hines and the brother of John William, Alfred, Arthur and Alice Reddish.

His father Charles was born in 1861 at Sneinton, Nottingham, his mother Eliza Hines was born in 1858 also at Sneinton, Nottingham, they were married in 1882 at Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 261 Windmill Lane Sneinton Nottingham Charles 50 yrs is a gas service layer, he is living with his wife Eliza 53 yrs and their children, Arthur 20 yrs an unemployed hosiery hand, Alice 15 yrs an errand girl at a warehouse and William 13 yrs of age.

Military history

Private William Reddish enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 23rd battalion Northumberland Fusiliers he was killed in action on 26th August 1917 and is buried at Templeux-Le-Guerard communal cemetery extension, France.
