Family history

John Ward (junior) was born in 1880 at Nottingham, he was the son of John Ward (senior) a baker and Rose Hannah Ward née Wood and the brother of Annie (née Ward) Dexter. They lived at 200 Alfred Street Central St Ann's Nottingham.

His father John Ward (senior) was born in 1850 at Nottingham, he died in 1919 aged 69 yrs, his mother Ros HannahWood was born in 1851 she died in 1913 aged 62 yrs they were married on 3rd October 1872 at St Marys Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 7 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 200 Alfred Street Central, St Ann's Nottingham, John 61 yrs is a baker, he is living with his wife Rose Hannah 60 yrs assisting her husband in his business and their children including John 30 yrs a baker.

Military history

Private John Ward enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 125243 Royal Army Service Corps, he later transferred to the 12th Bn Gloucestershire Regiment, he was killed in action on 28th June 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
