Born : 27th April 1893 : Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
Baptised : 14th May 1893 : Meole Brace, Shropshire.
Son of : John Frederick Glover and Emma Glover of 15. Trinity Street, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
According to both the 1901 and 1911 Census, he lodged with his Relatives, his Uncle, Harry Bunney and his Aunt, Emma Bunney at 13. London Road, The Meadows, Nottingham.
According to the UK Army Registers of Soldiers Effects, 1901-1929, his Aunt, Emma Bunney was his sole legatee for two payments, one of £3, 3 Shillings and Sixpence and a War Gratuity of £11, 13 Shillings.
Enlisted : Unknown.
Served with the 1st/7th (Robin Hood) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment.
Died : 1st July 1916 at Gommecourt Wood on the 1st day of the Battle of the Somme.
Awarded the Military Medal for his actions that day.
No known grave.
Commemorated on the Anglo-French War Memorial at Thiepval, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France.

Also Commemorated : On a Family Memorial along with his Sister, Ethel Louisa Glover in Nottingham General Cemetery.
The Inscription on the Family Memorial reads : "In Loving Memory of Sergt. William John Glover MM, 1st/7th Robin Hood Batt., Killed In Action in France July 1st 1916, aged, 23 years.
'Faithful unto death'.
'Call it not death, 'tis life begun'.
Also, Ethel Louisa, Sister of the above, who died Jany. 26th 1920, aged 21 years.
'Not our will O Lord, but thine'".
