Family history

Arthur Bramley was born in 1883 at Nottingham, he was the husband of Mabel Bramley née Jackson they were married on 16th Febraury 1909 at Nottingham Register office, they had children, Arthur G born 1908, Maud born 1910, Doris born 1913, Thomas H born 1916 and Hannah born 1918.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 36 Moodey Street Carlton Road Sneinton Nottingham Arthur 28 yrs is a carter he is living with his wife Mabel 22 years and their children Arthur 3 yrs and Maud 1 year of age.

Commencing 15th March 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 42 shillings an 1 pence a week.

Military history

Private Arthur Bramley enlisted on 2nd January 1917 at Nottingham, giving his address as 36 Moody Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham, giving his age as 34 yrs and 205 days, he was a carter, he was posted to the reserves. Mobilised for war on 3rd March 1917 he was posted to the 42nd Company Labour Corps. He landed in France on 24th March 1917 and served until 12th November 1917 when he was returned to England. He appeared before a medical board on 28th December 1917 at Alexandra Hospital, Cosham where he was found medically unfit for war service, he was dishcarged from the Army on 18th January 1918, his discharge address was 36 Moody Street, Nottingham.

He died on 25th June 1918 and is buried at Nottingham General Cemetry.
