Family history

Albert Wildman was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was the son of Frank a cycle hand and Sarah Wildman née Starr and the brother of Ada and Frank Wildman.

His father Frank was born in 1870 at Nottingha, his mother Sarah Starr was born in 1870 at Nottingham, they were married in 1890 at Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In 1901 the family lived at 11 Lennox Street Coalpit Lane Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 37 Virginia Street Sneinton Nottingham, Frank 41 yrs is a cycle hand, he is living with his wife Sarah 41 yrs and their children, Frank 12 yrs and Ada 16 yrs, but Albert was not listed as he he had left the family home and joined the Army.

In the same 1911 census we find Albert 21 yrs of age, in barracks at Hong Kong, he is serving with the 1st battalion King's OwnYorkshire Light Infantry,

Military history

Private Albert Wildman enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, He arrived in theatre (France) on 15th January 1915 he was killed in action on 8th May 1915 at Hill 60 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium
