Family history

Albert Adamson was born Albert Attenborough in 1893 at Woodend, Derbyshire he was the son of George Attenborough a coal miner and Annie Attenborough of Mansfield they had further children, George b1887 Ilkeston and Sarah Ann b1891 Staveley.

His mother Annie was born in 1865 in Bagworth, Leicestershire, she re married C1897 to Alfred Adamson (born 1869 Scarborough)

In the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Peas Hill Road St Ann's Nottingham. Alfred Adamson 42 yrs is a newsagent, he is living with his wife Annie Adamson 46 yrs assisting in her husbands business and her children, Sarah Attenborough 21 yrs a lace worker and Albert Adamson 18 yrs a bobbin maker.

Military history

Private Albert Adamson enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 4774 Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment). He later transferred to the 1st battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 3rd May 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
