Edward Burke was born in 1888 at Nottingham.

He was the husband of Mary Shaw whom he married in 1907 at Nottingham. and the father of Edward, Bridget and Ellen Burke.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 24 Taylor's Yard,Red Lion Strreet, Narrow Marsh Nottingham. Edward 23 yrs is a general labourer he is living with his wife Mary 22 yrs a lace mender and their children, Edward 4 yrs, Bridgett 2 yrs and Ellen 1 month old.

Military history

Private Edward Burke enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died of wounds on 22nd February 1918, he is buried at Rocquigny-Equancourt Road British Cemetery, Manancourt, France. Plot 10. Row A. Grave 16.
